The other question I have is, who leverages that word against anyone who has a medical disability or something? Like, I’ve never heard anyone call someone with Down Syndrome or autism, etc. a retard. Calling someone with down syndrome a retard is a slur. Calling someone who’s acting like a retard, aka just being stupid, slow, limited, whatever, who’s not medically handicapped in any way, not disabled. They can be a retard. They don’t own the mechanic of falling blocks. I play many tetris fan games and they just have to avoid tetrimino (a misspelling of tetromino) and the word tetris and the tetris song. They also have to avoid steam and other stores just in case the tetris company fights them.

I think a big issue with it is that theres no real way to properly sue a project if the president ok’s it. It’s a lot of money to go after a case, and then since it’s a federal case the president has pardon power on it. An IP violation is almost always federal… which falls under that pardoning ability. It would need to either stay at a state level (which is unlikely given who is involved) or keep it in civil court, which I don’t think IP violations of this magnitude would stay contained.

Honestly with how the law currently is, I think the president could publicly execute someone(or order someone else to) for any declared reason, as long as said reason could be remotely tied to it’s position of power, and then for the crime they could just pardon it. There’s nothing blocking it.

Tetromino’s as a design implementation is not trademarked, but the concept and names are. The Tetris Company owns the rights to any use of Tetromono’s and Tetris in the gaming sector. Being said, the patents to such concepts have already expired, so unless they were using trademarks naming I think they are fully allowed to use it. I don’t know if the Tetris company has any legal standing here.
