@thattommyhall@functional.cafe @mcc@mastodon.social Monkey is a generic term referring to the lesser apes and the great apes, which the scientific classification is Simiiformes.
This is a great short blog read about it.
But if anyone prefer an amusing video about the topic Clint's Reptiles video is a must.

Timeline sorting "New" "Hot" "Active"

"New" is a timeline sorted by the latest.

"Hot" is calculated based on score (upvotes/reactions minus downvotes) and posting time. In timelines, the formula adds number of reposts in the mix.

"Active" is the most recently replied to (including subreplies). "Active" in timelines provides a fedi-microblogging experience similar to traditional forums - only root posts, bumped when replied to, with a "Last reply by..." at the bottom.

On a Forum post you can also sort comments by "New", "Old", or "Top".

*The screenshots are from the platform Catodon but this feature is also present on other Fediverse platforms.

The top row contains a house icon next to the word "Home", followed by several white icons including a building, a planet with rings, a hashtag, a stylized cat head, an RSS signal, a camera, a speech bubble, and a tilde. tilde. A second row below contains the text labels "New", "Hot", and "Active". The text "New" is underlined with a bright blue horizontal line. The entire menu is set against a dark gray background.

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange sometimes there's come a time when a post just shouldn't be. I've never understood the super restrictive moderation features on public posts.
Its the Internet for heaven's sake!
Don't want it reshared, don't share it.
Not thick-skinned, don't share it.
Fear backlash or abuse, don't share it.
Sensitive information, don't share it.
At least not publicly.
Can't have the cake and eat it too.

If you are on Catodon, Sharkey or Misskey, checkout the themes I created. Long story short Nyan Cat [search]is part of the inspiration. I got the night themes right on the first attempt IMO, but many of the day themes were trying to get it right.

The performance improvements are very noticeable. Everything is snappier and smoother.

An animated clip shows a person walking through a doorway toward a cat. The person is wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt and red shorts. The cat, which has white, grey, and brown fur, sits on a blue surface. As the person approaches the cat, they move their hands creating a high five and fist bump greetings. The setting features beige walls and a doorway.
