Folks, I'm begging you.
Don't make autistic people in public areas listen to your device's noise. It's bad enough at volume when you can hear everything going on but the skzt-skzt-skzt of a low volume can become meltdown worthy. It can't be tuned out and it's rude as hell to force other people to listen to your noise.
Use earbuds or ear phones in public. Don't be a fucking asshole.

In my opinion it's Ffing rude to put your phone on loudspeaker in public. No matter who's around. Why the F do people think it's ok to scream at the grandkids on a video call on loudspeaker while they're on the train...

@jarjan That too. The folks I was referring to are the ones that are in a medical waiting room watching videos or listening to podcasts. I could have been more specific haha.
It's the only time I'm able to get any reading done and I cannot do so with the tinny scratching of low volume media. Not that it's any better with high volume.
If I had the money I'd buy a bunch of $10 ear buds and start handing them out when necessary.
The worst was dueling speakers in the Social Security office with at least three people doing it at once while a sign that said not to annoy other clients with your devices was posted directly in front of them on the wall.

@ruemaleficent People seem to rarely think of the experience of other people. I've got an area in the city (which I avoid) with a constant high pitch swoop swoop. Possibly one of those Pest deterrence tools. It's just at the end of my hearing range. Very few others seem to hear it, even fewer find the sound annoying.

I go around with airpods in when I'm out for two reasons. 1, dynamic noise adjustment, it makes background noise way more tolerable.
And 2, because that's how I interact with my phone. I use VoiceOver (the iOS screen-reader) so the last thing I want to do is have it blaring out on speaker, being *exactly* one of the kind of people I utterly loathe.
