John Ternus Era at Apple Kicks Off With the Changing of Lake Ontario to 'Lake America'
gizmodo.com/john-ternus-era-at-apple-kicks-off-with-the-changing-of-lake-ontario-to-lake-america-2000805913The map in the article shows the American name for the lake on the Canadian side of the border and doesn’t show the Canadian name for the lake at all. Thus far, I’m not favorably impressed with John’s performance. But then, the people using his maps aren’t his customers.

This whole thing sucks, but I think the location of the name likely has nothing to do with the change. It’s likely where the name already was just for convenience.
Also, generally they just show one country or language name for things at a time. You wouldn’t see Deutschland and Germany if you looked it up on the app. You’d see the one that made the most sense depending on the device or app settings. This is basically just a localization setting.
It’s not one lake. It’s now two lakes, divided by an international border. Canada’s Lake Ontario, north of the border and Trumps Lake America south of the border. Trump and Apple can keep their petty political maneuvers to themselves. As if it makes America great again and wins the trade wars or the war with Iran, as that seems to be the delusion.
