the tech industry fervor over Omarchy is so fucking confusing to me that i'm honestly starting to wonder if it's just money laundering. over TWELVE MILLION DOLLARS for a fascist's dotfiles and bash scripts is patently insane

@davidcelis@xoxo.zone it's not exactly money laundering, it's how people can take giant amounts of donations that are classified differently under tax laws. There's a lot of things that would otherwise be fairly innocent that exist mostly just to take gift money that ends up funneling into another project, usually politics. The obvious example of this is Super PACs.
It's just now the US is set up with their tax system. This is how you get rich without paying (as many) taxes and without a foreign bank account.

@davidcelis@xoxo.zone gets better when you consider both sides get tax relief from this. it's a well known loophole that requires connections and starting capital but it boggles the mind why it hasn't been closed yet. actually it doesn't but you get it.
