arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/08/apple-one-and-apple-tv-subscription-prices-increase-by-up-to-20-percent/Sucks. Still my favorite streaming service because of all the high quality science fiction shows and no ad tier.
So far they haven’t cancelled any of the shows I’ve been super excited for either. It’s not like scamazon or netsux where they do a season and it’s awesome but oh, no! It isn’t #1 for a month on launch!… better cancel it.
It’s still just a billionaire owned company though and likely to do what everyone else does eventually. Can’t wait for the next thing to come along and nuke ads again.

Which shows do you recommend? Try sailing the seas?

For All Man Kind is great, Star City is pretty good so far, Silo is great but drags at parts, and Severance is great, Foundation is well made and gets a little better each season. Monarch started strong, but gave up on it. Invasion was okay. Overall these shows are better than almost everything else on TV. Plenty of good non sci-fi too, widows bay, slow horses, lasso, etc. Definitely building out a high quality catalog and hitting their stride.

Yeah I’ve enjoyed for all mankind. Tried foundation feel asleep the first few times. Will try it again and the others thanks!

It takes a while but it does get good, especially the Empire storyline. There’s some dumb writing and a couple mid actors but for the most part it’s a good show.

I started Star City, and the fact that everyone speaks English in Russia just took me out of it completely. Couldn’t make it through the first episode, it was so distracting.

Alternative would be to be a show entirely subtitled which might kill its broad appeal, so understand why they did it. But definitely takes some getting used to. Gonna be weird if they ever start talking to people in America and have to switch to them speaking both Russian & English.

Yesh.
They’re definitely the ones doing the good stuff these days.
