That would take people actually learning who they vote for past a letter next to their name. It would also take things in place to stop people from just saying things and swapping sides.

When was the last time you saw a politician with a comprehensive plan for anything at all? It’s political suicide to have an actual platform anymore. I think it should be illegal to run for office without one frankly.

Seems most people vote their feels or their chosen clan… Whoever they think they get along better with socially.

It seems few people seriously assess a politicians job qualification or work hisrory.

Heck, my SO just lets me do the work, but I refused to just let them copy my vote. I write up paragraph summaries for each candidate then a blurb explaining my choice. They can disagree if they want, it’s okay. I don’t look to see how they vote, or ask, but they basically tell me they trust me and just wanna copy me.

It’s honestly pretty upsetting.

And I bet one partner in most relationships just does the same, or votes party line, or just generally doesn’t give a hoot but votes anyway.

in conservative circles, the wife’s vote is often just a second vote for her husband’s choice.

I mean, we could do that, but maybe instead we should all jist vote based on the politics of some bull shit going on on the other side of the world or the need to stop like 10 trans people playing sportsball.

In some states (like mine), they shove these laws allowing access into omnibus must pass bills, and since representatives cant vote down on them, you basically would have to vote everyone out. Better ideas is to show up at every city and county meeting, with your community members and make such noise about it, that they have to do something about it so they can’t keep hiding behind under the counter deals.

Where I live, it was not voted on. They just showed up one day. They did have a city council meeting to discuss it, but they had it during 4th of july week–when most people in this small town are on vacation. I don’t think that was an accident.
