At what point do we stop voting for the people putting up the flock cameras, and start voting for those that have comprehensive plans to address real issues?

That would take people actually learning who they vote for past a letter next to their name. It would also take things in place to stop people from just saying things and swapping sides.

When was the last time you saw a politician with a comprehensive plan for anything at all? It’s political suicide to have an actual platform anymore. I think it should be illegal to run for office without one frankly.

Seems most people vote their feels or their chosen clan… Whoever they think they get along better with socially.

It seems few people seriously assess a politicians job qualification or work hisrory.

Heck, my SO just lets me do the work, but I refused to just let them copy my vote. I write up paragraph summaries for each candidate then a blurb explaining my choice. They can disagree if they want, it’s okay. I don’t look to see how they vote, or ask, but they basically tell me they trust me and just wanna copy me.

It’s honestly pretty upsetting.

And I bet one partner in most relationships just does the same, or votes party line, or just generally doesn’t give a hoot but votes anyway.

I mean, we could do that, but maybe instead we should all jist vote based on the politics of some bull shit going on on the other side of the world or the need to stop like 10 trans people playing sportsball.

In some states (like mine), they shove these laws allowing access into omnibus must pass bills, and since representatives cant vote down on them, you basically would have to vote everyone out. Better ideas is to show up at every city and county meeting, with your community members and make such noise about it, that they have to do something about it so they can’t keep hiding behind under the counter deals.

Where I live, it was not voted on. They just showed up one day. They did have a city council meeting to discuss it, but they had it during 4th of july week–when most people in this small town are on vacation. I don’t think that was an accident.

There is a group in my town who is starting an open letter/petition to the city council to have them removed. I feel like that’s the safer and more lasting way to get them down here. The one pointing towards my home is right next to a school and any kind of tampering would be readily seen and fixed

A local guy just got caught taking down a decoy camera that the cops set up to get whoever had been cutting down cameras in the area.

So they caught him, but the mayor seemed irritated about the decoy operation, which she wasn’t aware of. She wondered who paid for the camera, but it turned out to be a 3D print that one of the cops did at home. Aloarently city council were already debating removing the cameras, and the mayor seems to be on the negative side.

Anyway, whenever the story comes on the news, I vocally declare my support for the guy, to anyone who happens to be in the room.

We cheered for a vigilante who presumably shot a health insurance CEO to death, too.

No, the presumption is innocence.

He has admitted in court to doing it.

Feel free to prove me wrong then. But admitting to a crime you didn’t commit isn’t something that happens regularly.

You just lowered the bar*, but the US DOJ routinely reports that up to 50% to 60% of people that take a plea deal are actually innocent upon further review of the actual evidence.

Plea deals are how about 90% of all cases in the US are settled, with the innocent accused pleading guilty to a crime they didn’t commit, so they get a better deal than a jury and judge will give them if they are found guilty.

Again, I am not going to give you more than crumbs. You can find all this data with a quick search.

Lpt: a circular saw is quicker than a sawzall on 2in aluminum pipes. If you aren’t sure what kind of metal you’re working with, use a magnet. If it sticks, use a sawzall. If it doesn’t, use a circular saw. With a little practice, you can get through a 2in pipe in under 45 seconds (12s is my record for 2in aluminum pipe)

How you use that little tidbit of info is up to you I guess, I just like sharing information about metalworking, since I’m a hobby level blacksmith.

And just in case you want to go camping with your metalworking tools, as one does, there are some decent brands that fit nicely in a backpack, and you can get around your campground quickly with bicycles. Just don’t bring your phone, they ruin bike trips.

Rotating around the circumference of a pipe makes the circumference inconsequential. As long as they aren’t 2.5 in thick in the wall of the pipe, you’re good.

Someone on Tiktok is testing this on poles in his yard… Circular saw and reciprocating saw are basically almost exactly the same time due to having to turn the circular saw around. An angle grinder was actually slightly faster than the two, but much more nosier.

Cutting these things down is fine and all, more power to you. In decently sized cities, they’ll just replace them and it becomes a game of whack-a-mole. Go to noalprs.com and sign up - look for a local group and show up to city hall. If your town isn’t on the map, create a group. There has been enormous success by pointing out the privacy risks, security failures, potential for abuse, 3rd party data collection, etc. When a contract is cancelled, ALL those cameras go down. Seriously, sign up and fight. Angry folks at town halls make change.

Yep, while being a vigilante and likely getting caught get’s headlines, the better action is use your legal rights, show up to city, county and state meetings and get them banned all together. Getting your representatives to answer to the people is the best course of action and always the most productive one long term for actual change.

Direct some of that ire at the employees who are supposed to work for We The People, but they did this to us, with sneaky means to avoid public knowledge, with our taxes. Seems against the alleged founding values.
