I'd probably be more willing to pay attention to the offers of "do a passkey" if the various websites actually took a moment to explain what that is, versus just saying "wow it's so secure! seriously you won't regret it"

By the way this isn't me asking /what/ it is, since I already know. My issue is that the websites are treating this like snake oil and being like "It just works!" without giving me any information. I tend not to trust offers like that if it's basically "No really it works, believe me

replacing a password I could use for a website at any time with "you better not lose your phone"
I've yet to see anything in passing about advantages, it's another "please use this now" instruction from a shitty industry

@patterfloof My assumption is that it's supposed to resolve the "issue" of passwords being cracked when really most (if not all) of the security breaches are "some fool fell for a phishing attempt and willingly gave that password away"
