That‘s a reach, if I ever saw one. China lifted more than 800 million people out of poverty, and in fact eradicated poverty at all. Last I heard, their standard of living just closely missed being in the high income countries category. Their trajectory is in complete contrast to the declining Western empire.

China is better at capitalism, because it‘s their only play to stay sovereign and overcome this predatory system completely. They have to prove to the capitalist world, that their system and long term development is superior and it‘s only beneficial for the world to follow their transition towards socialism to enable prosperity for all humankind, not just the global north. Not gonna happen under capitalism, especially not under the US or the EU.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Nah man, not „denying issues“. I‘m just not willing to jump through hoops, because you keep throwing propaganda talking points at me.

Uyghurs and Tibet, Tibet, Uyghurs, More Uyghurs

Breakthrough News, a media outlet hated by Trump, has some actual reporting on China with their regular China Report. On the linked video their guest is Ben Norton of Geopolitical Economy Report, another excellent resource.

E: How quaint.

lemmy.todayChina tells its minorities to integrate or face consequences with sweeping new law - Lemmy TodayFor years, Chinese leader Xi Jinping has pushed ethnic minority groups like Tibetans and Uyghurs to adopt an identity rooted in Chinese nationality and allegiance to the ruling Communist Party. Now, that push has been codified into a sweeping new law that reaches into classrooms, neighborhoods and homes – and gives Beijing the right to target people outside of its borders that it believes violate its rules. The statute, officially known as the Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law, came into effect on July 1. It bans acts that “undermine ethnic unity or create ethnic division” among China’s 56 officially recognized ethnicities, which include a Han Chinese majority that makes up over 90% of the country’s 1.4 billion people.

Disparity is rising in China with the development of the private sector, but it is fundamentally true that the CPC primarily focuses on developing the living conditions for the working classes:

Essentially, capitalists are winning the most, but the CPC ensures that more than anything the lives of the working classes are focused on. Additionally, as the private sector grows, it gets increasingly controlled and subsumed into the public sector. The privledge capitalists have rest on a dying basis because their purpose is to facilitate development towards higher levels of socialism, through developing the productive forces more rapidly. This is the tradeoff China made, and its working.
