The "Problem" of novelty candidates is not with the candidates being able to run, or even potentially win elections.
The only "Problem" is that, someone with a bin on their head running on the platform of "I'm not Nigel Farage", is assessed, by significant numbers of voters, as a better option than the "serious" candidates.
If you want the novelty candidates to stop mattering, You have to have "serious" candidates voters can take seriously.

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I'm conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent. Thank you for your cooperation during this trying time.

“I don’t want to live with anyone. I’ve learned how to live by myself. I have to be alone. To come home tired in the evening and find somebody sitting opposite you, saying, ‘And what are you thinking now, beloved?’ would drive me mad! The way things are, nobody can ever say to me, ‘You’re not going to sit there all evening doing nothing, are you?’ because I am. You don’t know how odd your life is until you open it up to other people.”

The best thing about Smart Glasses is that you can actually watch the eclipse through them while recording it.
I haven't got any Smart Glasses myself, but if you have, let me know how it goes.

@janeishly @downey I don't get it. First the slop machines came for writing, and everyone went “This writing is shit!”.
Then they came for art, and everyone went "This art is shit!”.
Now they're "creating" software, and somehow I'm the crazy one for saying that maybe we shouldn’t.

If you need to deactivate half of the system settings, uninstall dozen of useless pre installed stuff, get into registry and/or group policies to change things you have no clue what it does you're just following online guides, just to make Windows 11 acceptably annoying, then the whole "yeah but Linux is harder to setup" has poorly aged pretty fast.

nobody requested this, nobody wants gigantic kernel updates with very low quality code in them. the kernel of all things needs a slower pace and more care, because it’s the fucking kernel.
so who do you imagine is holding torvalds’ feet to the fire on this? maybe it’s the LLM companies pouring fucktons of money into the Linux foundation? nah can’t be. must be all the downstream projects that are going to get fucked over by this, they surely want the worst possible version of Linux
