I was talking to @technostructures and @michael at #dwebcamp about the idea of having a bridge-a-thon, some sort of in person event where people who are working on bridging open protocols could explore the potential primitives together.

Seeing @matthew of @matrix talk about how Beeper is now such a prominent player in the ecosystem these days. We all keep going over the history again and again of the failure of @xmpp's federation with the centralized providers and thinking about how we can work to promote inter-protocol community building.

I am inspired by the approaches taken by @wafrn (thanks a lot to @gabboman) in fediverse native multi protocol social media. But I think there are a plurality of aproches that can and should be taken.
