Issue: can't log in catodon.rocks account from mobile

After i solve the captcha it simply says "failed to sign in" "failed to fetch". I'm writing this on desktop right now

Catodon 26.10.3 released: Update Node.js in Docker

Release 26.10.3: 26.10.2 plus the Node releases of the October 2026 security advisory (advisory), and follow-ups from #663 that came after 26.10.2 was cut.

Update not necessary if you're on a bare metal installation - just make sure you have updated your Node.js to the October 21 security release - and have restarted Catodon afterwards.

Collapse default settings

Whenever I open a post with lots of comments, I like to collapse the second-level comments. It’s a great feature. However, I’d prefer it if there were an option in the settings to keep them collapsed at all times.

Custom Feeds

Hey, I wanted to create more than 5 custom feeds, but i get an error message.
Is there a limit to custom feeds?

Hashtags – Maximum number

I wanted to follow a new hashtag but received a message saying that I had reached the maximum number of hashtags I can follow and could not follow any more.

Security release - please update. 26.10.2 is a security release on top of 26.10.1 and contains nothing else. Every instance should update.

New "Videos" page and timeline in Catodon

This new feature allows you to watch peertube videos as intended, subscribe to peertube channels and follow them there, and also subscribe to youtube channels through our RSS feed feature. Just merged (so expect some changes in the following days), just deployed on catodon.rocks: look for "Videos" under "Show more" in your navigation bar, or add the Videos timeline through "Customize timelines" in Settings.

Bluesky Integration

Are there any plans for a Bluesky integration? Examples of this would include Friendica and Wafrn.

FediDB have a fediverse software finder by feature where Catodon shines

This is my personal feature selection and, as we have events now, Catodon is the only implementation to cover all my needs.

Catodon now has Mobilizon/Gancio compatible events

Still somewhat experimental, as it was just merged, but deployed on catodon.rocks and should work as expected - drop me a line if you see a bug. Will be officially released in Catodon 26.11.0 "Nyan Cat".

You can find the Events page in your navigation bar (under "Show more" by default), and you can post a new event either from that page or from the regular posting form, like how you would create a poll.

Catodon 26.10.1 released!

26.10.1 is a security release on top of 26.10.0. Every server should update as soon as it can. No migration, no config change.

Mute replies from an account

I like to see replies from accounts in my feed. However, there are a few accounts whose replies I’d prefer not to see in my feed. It’s already possible to hide retoots on a per-account basis. It would be good to have the same option for replies as well.

Overview of the forums

When I open the feed with the forums, I see an image on the left and a truncated title on the right. It would be good if you could see the full title and part of the post here. A bit like on Reddit, for example.

Thread view redesign in Catodon

Today I merged many UI changes, mostly around how threads are viewed and navigated. I took some of the good elements of Reddit, so now we have sorting by Old/New/Top (the default for the microblogging timelines is Old, and for forums it's Top - both can change in settings) and a flexible replies section with collapsible/expandable branches. Top-level posts now show the total number of replies under the whole thread, not just the direct/first level replies (but again you can change it back in Settings). I also saved much vertical space, so now you can read long threads with less scrolling.

If I may say so myself, I honestly believe it's one of the best UIs on fedi, especially for reading conversations. I think that if anyone tried it, they would agree. Really, really happy with the results. It's still fresh, so I will probably refine things here and there, but it's pretty much exactly as I envisioned it.

Replies from forums

I think it’s good that you can choose to display replies from accounts you follow in the main feed. However, if I also choose to display forum posts, every reply to those forum posts is shown.
I’d like it if you could display all replies except those from the forums. In other words, so that the forum posts are shown, but the replies aren’t.

Caught up with Misskey 2026.10.0, added ActivityPub C2S API support (we know there are not many clients, but we want to do our part for standardization in the Fediverse), added post languages and language filters, replaced Redis with Valkey and many more - read the release notes for a full list of everything we did this month!

Second release candidate for 26.10.0.

Mostly bug fixes (but many!) compared to rc.1. Stable release to follow soon, with a more detailed list of the changes 26.10.0 brings.

Link preview

Is it possible to hide the link preview completely? I mean, not just the image, but the whole box.

Catodon 26.10.0-rc.1 released!

Major changes:

• The bundled in-memory store is now Valkey instead of Redis. The app itself is unchanged: config keys keep their redis names and an existing Redis still works, but Redis is now an untested compatibility path rather than a supported option. Follow docs/upgrading-to-valkey.md in order: check which Redis wrote your data, drain the job queue, back up, then switch — Docker installs by renaming the service to the Valkey image, bare-metal installs via the distro's Valkey package. On Redis 7.4+ the data file cannot be reused, so notification history is lost.
• Dependencies now track Misskey 2026.9.0 instead of Sharkey's: backend packages are at the versions Misskey 2026.9.0 runs, on new majors of Fastify, BullMQ 6 and the TypeORM 1 database layer, with the Node 24 image and pnpm 12 for source installs.
• ActivityPub client API (client-to-server) is on by default. Apps identified by a web address can sign in and post, read and upload for authorizing accounts. Turn it off under Control Panel > Federation > Policy if unwanted.
• Trending links, after Mastodon: server-side ranking, an Explore Links tab, and moderator review, with an opt-in mode to trend without prior review.
• "Also discussed in": posts sharing a link are listed on the post page, alongside forum cross-posts.
• Like and repost counts now match the origin for posts from Mastodon and Catodon servers.
• Posts carry their language: composer picker, per-account default, federated both ways, and exposed on the Mastodon API.

Admins: BullMQ 6 needs no queue drain; Meilisearch re-indexes posts once on first start.

New, Trending

The ‘New’ and ‘Trending’ feeds display posts in pretty much the same order.
Sorting by trending posts doesn’t seem to work as intended.
It doesn’t matter whether I access them on the homepage, in the accounts section or in the forums.
