I buy a phone when it runs into a problem I’m not easily able to deal with. Last upgrade was 5 years ago when the battery of my last phone was puffed up. IIRC getting a spare + tools to install it were going to cost about 2/3 as much as a new phone. Ideally it would last longer but it is what it is.
