New messenger app sends texts by virtual pigeon and sometimes the bird just dies
www.dexerto.com/entertainment/new-messenger-app-sends-texts-by-virtual-pigeon-and-sometimes-the-bird-just-dies-3398025/Author says on reddit that it’s vibe coded. Boo.
Yes, because this is critical production code that is clearly too important to not go through stringent review.
It could have at least been a fun learning experience for the developer, but instead they just wrote some text and let the computer program it.
It’s absolutely possible to learn a lot while using an AI coding assistant; it can be like having a patient and supportive Stack Overflow instead of one that just closes all your questions as duplicates. That does require using it intentionally though.
That’s not what vibecoding is. Vibecoding is literally what I said and not just it being an assistant.
Replying to @x00z@lemmy.world
While I don’t use LLMs, IMHO unreviewed code is unreviewed code. If it’s unreviewed, that means no one has taken responsibility for it, and so it doesn’t belong in any codebase without that giant disclaimer front and center.
Edit: lol @ downvoters who “vibe-read” this comment 🤦 the toxic element of lemmy who think we can’t see who they are
