If I were a professor in this day and age, every exam would have an oral component. If it’s a class that has a large group of people, then I’d have my TA’s run oral exams with small groups separately.

I have to think that they just haven’t parsed out the games that are downloadable-only vs those that have both digital and physical editions.

It’s really not. AI Psychosis is not exclusive to the US, nor is LLM use. These products are every bit as harmful to everyone else outside the US.

I’m of two minds about this.

Part of me wanted to blithely reply that “nothing of value was lost”; However, it’s undeniable that this is a societal problem and this person is a victim every bit as much as someone who gets injured in a Tesla because it decides to run a red light and slam into a tree after a bad software update.

These products are built to be manipulative and harmful in the long-term, and by rights, should be regulated into oblivion. The LLM companies are just in the process of calibrating and tweaking the product so it kills more like cigarettes and less like interacting with a Terminator, and for that to happen, a few people have to die. They’ve almost certainly calculated out the potential litigation costs and accepted the risk.

And most of us can’t avoid these products entirely because our job requires us to develop a basic proficiency in their use.

Oof.

I sold my shares years ago, when Musk started to show his first signs of becoming radicalized. Looks like it was a pretty good call.

Nothing is really guaranteed in investing (unless you’re in public office and can insider trade or you’re a billionaire), though the post IPO dip has happened often enough that, yes, it probably isn’t the worst idea to have a plan.

It’s going to take global upheaval to claw power back from the billionaires. They live in a world where they are completely divorced from any kind of public infrastructure, and that wasn’t the case the last time this happened in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Everyone with a brain cell predicted this when Flock began to become infamous earlier this year.

If your cameras are “AI-Powered” and collecting billions of data points on people, it’s just going to equate to (at least) tens of thousands erroneous identifications due to the limitations of the software.

And that’s unacceptable.

Nintendo being anti-consumer is no surprise, but it’s nice to see someone tried to hold them to account.

So glad I personally didn’t buy a Switch 2.
