Do you still do the "L" thing with your hands to check left and right?
I often do it even though I usually already know before doing it. It just feels like a habit/sanity check.

Not intuitively knowing left and right is one of the signs of dyslexia btw
Or the lesser known Left Right Confusion. There’s a test available at the university of Washington to see if you have this!
