My instance is currently running the latest version of iceshrimp.js.

I recently rediscovered the Catodon project, and I must say I'm interested in this modernization.

Would it be possible to migrate while preserving my existing database?

@AntoineD@kwak.cab @catodon hello! First of all, better mention my account for questions - I don't always check notifications in the Catodon account (yeah, I should ​​). Now, to migrate from Iceshrimp.js, you first have to follow the migration instructions from Iceshrimp to Sharkey - which is a kinda long process, but worth it! Then migrating to Catodon is very easy - just point to Catodon's repo, git pull, pnpm install, pnpm build, pnpm migrate and start the service. You could probably follow the same guide and skip Sharkey, going straight to Catodon. But always keep a backup of your database before attempting a migration!

The only thing I find unfortunate is the removal of clips (I have several organized collections)

Is there any plan to add the ability to classify bookmarks by categories to make up for it?

@AntoineD@kwak.cab @catodon I'm afraid there isn't a way to do that currently, but bookmarks are now split in three categories, as we have added RSS posts and user bookmarks alongside the traditional post bookmarks. Let me give it some thought, I did have a plan to create federated post collections at some point but I haven't worked on it yet.

I'll take the time to bookmark all my clips before attempting a migration.

I tested on your instance and I realized that searching for Peertube URLs doesn't work (whereas it does on Iceshrimp)

Do you think you'll be able to fix that?

@AntoineD@kwak.cab took me 10 hours (working on other stuff in parallel) but the peertube issue should be fixed - please confirm!
