Fediverse.observer (one of the longest running fediverse instance and software trackers, as it started for Diaspora) shut down. I think it would be really good to figure out how we can at least get a copy of the historical data and get that back up somewhere.

@liaizon I'm for backups of the data but also it should definitely be contextualized with, people (of those who have been indexed) have been lying in the API responses (as they should) since the start to make the graphs pretty&funny. Like it was an interesting collective-project but not an uncomplicatedly objective one.
So hopefully the backups of the data somehow keep that context in or adjacent to them.

@dansup@mastodon.social One thing I can say for sure is that the Fediverse Observer recognized and listed more platforms. Catodon isn't displayed on FediDB at all - catodon.rocks is online over 6 months and is still displayed as "Unknown software". I sent an email about this over 10 days ago. The Fediverse Observer showed all 13 Catodon servers correctly. @liaizon@social.wake.st @gaditb@icosahedron.website

@dansup @panos just noticed your listing of castopod showing 0 servers fedidb.com/software/castopod but I see that @Castopod isn't exposing nodeinfo at all right now so this obviously isn't your fault. looking here I see they did attempt to support it tho github.com/ad-aures/castopod/b

cc @benjaminbellamy I would add this to your issue tracker if you happened to get a public issue tracker up somewhere.
