@irina More than one native language, nice! Checkboxes would work well in some ways, but you’d also get the wrong impression that there are more people. That is, I hadn’t even considered using checkboxes, but I don’t see either approach as a clear winner.

You checking “English” would work, too, I think.

@rauschma I grew up *almost* bilingual (Dutch/English). I'm completely bilingual for reading, writing and listening, and practically bilingual for speaking (I have a bad all-over-the-world accent in my English).

@rauschma @irina My daughter was born in France to an Italian mother and English father, and moved through all three as a kid. I wouldn't have a clue what her native language is (although she spent her formative years of school in England aged 4-11, which has a huge effect).

@davep @rauschma I know an almost six-year-old kid with Russian parents who lived in Turkey for a couple of years and now lives in Serbia with her father who speaks good English (and often does so in video calls), so she's fluent in all four languages.
