I put @snarfed.org on the spot, asking how Unicode domains are handled in the #atmosphere.
Does anyone know if a Unicode domain will show up as Unicode in the default #Bluesky app? In other apps?

@evan @snarfed.org Bluesky shows the raw punycode of all IDNs. I think I have seen some experimental client expand the punycode into its full unicode glory but I cant remember which one it was. Here are two people who have played around with their (and historically our) sorry lack of unicode support: @north and @aslakr

@liaizon @evan The macos atproto-client https://aeronautapp.com will display IDN handles as Unicode, but infrastructure for using it (searching etc) isn't there @snarfed.org @north
