#valheim can be the game of distractions. exploring, trying to hunt deer. find more bees, refurb a pre-placed hut as a little campsite, find enough deer, fill my inventory & back to base
need more wood for a beehive, end up building a bridge over this little stream by my base instead, then finally plant the hive & turn deer into armour

@patterfloof So it was you who hunted allll the deer out of my Meadows! There's, like, 3 spawn spots on the whole island.

@sahqon if it's any consolation, I died quickly while discovering the black forest. Then another 5 deaths trying to get my gear back

@patterfloof Yeah, still managed to make the deer extinct tho! :D
I actually survived the forest on day three or so while stealing some corewood for my bow. Sometimes you get two nests of greydwarves, three bears and a tree wielding Troll within hearing distance. Sometimes you get your wood and nothing whatsoever attacks.
Though I wonder. The greylings are also sparse for me and I didn't much explore the Forest yet other than stealing wood because I was building, mostly. But could it be that they made everything more sparse?

@sahqon there's some mechanism where some base structures, including workbenches prevent enemy spawns in a 20-30m radius

@patterfloof Yes and I tend to use that around the forest extensively (because of the stupid high spawn rate), but I've played this game a lot on beta, and this time somehow a lot less things seem to attack and there's no deer. And I don't have benches anywhere in the forest (yet).
