I lol’d because one of the questions in the comments was, well what can it do, and the answer was…not much. That’s an awfully expensive toy…but at least the legs are replaceable 🤷♂️

What can a real dog do?

Be an actual companion

You can’t answer the question using a deliberately broad terminology. That robot also can accompany an owner.

That’s what you thought he meant?
This wasn’t a failure of communication on his part, it was a failure on yours.

Maybe you’re a robot.

Go out. Pet a dog. Talk to a human in real life.

Stink, shit and piss everywhere, play fetch (if you taught it to).

Yes but in this case it generates income for the author in terms of his ongoing employment.
Thats not even funny its just fuckin sad and stupid.
Benn Jordan had some fun with one of these, it was an entertaining and frightening experience…

I have no idea who this is

Very informative, thanks.

Not sure how my organic dog would react.

A living dog isn’t that easy to fool. There is a dead object moving, like a falling broomstick, or any other of the human’s toys.

I still jerk off manually.

Of course you do.

a real dog wouldve been cheaper, and cheaper to maintaine, what happens if the company goes under and you can repair it.

But when you go on holiday, your “real” dog can’t be just switched off!
One is a toy, the other is a living creature man.

why?

On a sunny morning in June, I walked to work with a quadruped robot beside me. I’ve never gotten more attention from strangers.

It has three modes; silent, pulse, and throb.

It’s got what plants crave

Still cheaper than a 5090
Why? Jesus Christ. Unless you are planning on taking it apart and reading it’s circuitry, don’t patronize this kind of shit.
A bunch of people snapped pictures of my robot dog. Several people asked me questions. Was it being used for surveillance? (No.)
Are you sure?

Not by him.

almost too realistic.
My robot dog after it collapsed steps from my home. The light on its “face” was blinking red, and the lidar sensor on its “nose” was still spinning.
