That’s not really true. At the end of the day no one is forced to use any of this tech. It’s all a choice. You might be forced to be indirectly a part of it, but in your personal life you can choose not to. I haven’t had Facebook in something like 15 years at this point. I don’t have insta. I pick and choose the tech I want to deal with. I miss out on some stuff, but my relationships are richer and my life feels more analog than others. I’m not perfect, I’m just saying you don’t have to use all tech that comes out just because it exists.

This is great! It’s been frankly hard work avoiding using Meta, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and all of Zuckerberg’s other merciless surveillance and manipulation systems, and now I don’t have to worry about avoiding it any more because I don’t need to give deliberate consent at all, I only need to be within range of someone who has given unwitting consent on my behalf. And inside my own home when I’m my most unguarded and sincere, believing I’m only sharing my thoughts with the people present. What a win!
