@fediverse What "!" before handle stands for?
Is it solely used to redirect on original instance by clicking upon it?

@wannabe_alarmist @fediverse its for groups. Mastodon doesn't support it and replaces it with a @ but if you see it it means the account is a group account and kf you mention it (from your account with an @) your post becomes a new topic in the group that it's from
