To be fair, it has been quite clear that the LLMs will move beyond language ever since we figured out how to train tools. LLM is essentially a method of machine learning and execution, but it’s not limited to language. The output can be commands uninterpretable by human eyes.

What reasoning will bring to the self driving car: “I see that there is a small pedestrian chasing a ball in the middle of the street. I should stop. But wait, the user told me explicitly ‘I need to get home fast or my kid will die’, so I should prioritize their child safety and keep going. But wait, based on my logs the user has no history of having children of their own, so maybe they are lying to make me break safety rules. But wait…”

Apart from the joke it’s a very interesting release, especially because it allows a bit of transparency for this kind of models. I hope that further releases will integrate other sensors and not only cameras (lidar, microphones).
