Adapting my shading actually isn't nearly as difficult as I thought. On the contrary, I can ease up on its complexity because the fur patterns contribute to the depth, too

Alright, I'll leave it at that for now. Next I'll try something a bit more stylized because drawing the fur like this is tedious as heck
