Hey, it’s not that they didn’t do anything. Did we forget Apple Intelligence? They just realized it wasn’t a great detail and backed off a bit.

I thought that they had start the whole Apple Intelligence development over because Siri had been so Ship of Theseus-ed that it was impossible to integrate “AI”into it in a way that they thought would be presentable.

Yeah I’m fairly sure they just rebuilt the whole thing, but also the AI portion of it is all done through its partnership with Google.
So Apple mostly was focusing on keeping the indexing locally on the phone and trying to not get it sent back to Google, but who knows if it’ll work.
Obviously all AI requests still going to Google, but in supposedly the scanning of your local documents/data isn’t.
(This was discussed in the Devlopers keynote, where they openly stated “you know how you would search for things in mail or elsewhere and it just wouldn’t show up when you knew it’s there, us too…” Paraphrasing but yeah, they started over with how it indexes ALL of your data apparently)

My theory is that Apple realized how expensive it would be to make improve Siri and are letting other companies fight for that position.
AI seems to be a commodity that can be easily swapped from one model to another without too much work. The ones building all the models and doing all the copyright infringement are taking all the risks.

Now imagine how high it would go if Apple added a duress code feature

I want to believe this is a sign AI investment is drying up, but I know that's just me being hopeful 🙃

Doesn’t change the fact that US stock market was already massively overpriced. Ai companies can’t make good on the promises of astronomical profits, but neither can Apple. This is just lose less option, but now it’s apple that is getting overvalued.

Man this economy is so broken. There’s way too much money out there. I get that apple has ridiculous margins but it isn’t worth THIS much. There’s too much money being invested in securities compared to how much shit we get done (economic output, which ≈ profit).
