I'm concerned that the US government is starting to identify decentralized media infrastructure as a threat to its survival. Repost information about this broadly, and if you have media contacts, inform them of counter-narratives; there could come a time where the fediverse, or any decentralized network infrastructure, is a target as well if we don't sound the alarms now.

decentralized media thwarts the power of money (or force) to shape public opinion. the web gave us speech, fedi does it for attention. of course we're a threat.

what annoys me is that we're not taking advantage of our power here. most would rather keep their nice but conservative relatives away than focus moderation only on harassment. we've somehow managed to browse a web full of shitty sites for decades and it didn't become a Nazi bar.
