If I'm reading the discourse achievements correctly, it seems my post calling for a total ban on AI in #GNOME is currently the second–most liked post in the forum's history.

I have shared my thoughts on #GNOME's potential adoption of an "AI" policy in this discourse thread, and strongly suggest my fellow slop-hating GNOMies do the same.

Multiple GNOME contributors have told me that they feel it is pointless to vocally oppose the use of generative tooling and that they feel it is just a matter of time before a pro-slop policy is officially adopted by GNOME.

I want you all to know that the relentlessly anti-AI stance is the popular opinion. If you state your opposition as well, you'll be in good and plentiful company.

Edit: Are you a GNOME contributor who is demotivated by AI? Please reach out.

@vtrlx

I'm a Debian developer and gnome user/occasional contributor who voted for Debian's anti-LLM resolutions.

I don't trust the companies behind AI, and I think they're running" the try to create dependence so they can build a monopoly" playbook by attacking peoples ability to write software inexpensively on their own.

I also think the reason the AI companies have gotten vast funding is to crush worker's rights and to empower the wealthy with inhuman workers who will not say no to committing crimes against humanity.

To support my claim that the tech companies want workers who will take money to commit crimes against humanity, Microsoft implemented rules against talking about Palestine in their email system and then later during a general company meeting had employees who protested Microsoft's contracts with the Israeli military arrested.

I really want a compute environment that is not controlled by corporations who are working to to oppress me and everyone I know.
