I switched from Noctalia to DankMaterialShell on my NUC which I use through a small and very wide touch display. It's less customizable, but it feels more mature. For instance, DMS has display settings out of the box, and if a widget's popover doesn't fit (which easily happens on such a small display), you can scroll it. The settings window was outright unusable because it opened with a fixed size which prevented me from accessing the entire lower half.

I wish DMS had a different name because it makes it sound like a skibidi YOLO kiddie project

It shows a terminal with rmpc to control mpd. rmpc isn't ideal as a touch interface, but it supports mouse input so you can do the basics, and with some customization I got it to look way better than other interfaces I found.
