massively hyped up durians to my folks for their trip but they don't know about the smell. should I tell them or surprise them?

Do not surprise anyone with a durian. Warn them: it will either taste like warm creamy ice cream or a sock filled with spoiled onions.
There is no in between and its like surprising someone with ghost peppers: the surprise is not appreciated.
