What’s so bad about proton, and is there alternatives to all of their services?

I keep hearing bad stuff about proton, but I don’t really get most of it. Could someone please explain all of the controversy to me. Lastly, what are the best alternatives to all of their services?

It’s a company. As such, it wants to make money. As such, it hires people to make that happen. Those people tend to think in certain pathways. When that happens, any company eventually falls into the same anti-user behaviors
