If you can understand the reasons that people want to use GrapheneOS then you'll understand why people don't want you to allow AI use in this project.
You're taking too much upon yourself speaking for other people.
I use GrapheneOS and I want them to use LLMs in development to keep making the project even more secure since adversaries would use it when looking for vulnerabilities in it.
from a cultural perspective
More like political and shortsighted.
I'd prefer to trust people who instead of running around and crying about "cultural perspective" would make decisions based on observations like Torvalds or GrapheneOS developers did.
The technology is here. You can keep your head in the sand and let your users suffer because you just ignore the outside world or you can adapt and apply appropriate measures. Thankfully, this project decided to take measures.
People being vocal in social media in social media is not a threat to GrapheneOS user. People who look for vulnerabilities are. From security perspective it's a good decision. And if people who use GrapheneOS care more about the cultural perspective, maybe they don't really need this OS.
