To put it in words: it supports a wider range of applications, provides strong privacy, it is easier to host and develop for, it scales to billions of users, can survive a nuclear war and can be used to communicate with colonies on Mars.

I don't know if a shared vision of social aspects could exist. I guess it is "most of us still want to be on the same network"?
