@dragonfrog yeah! Should definitely do that too.

@dragonfrog also politicians share the blame. A classic story: the Netherlands and the USA faced the same oil crisis in the late 70s. The Netherlands chose alternative transportation. The USA chose "right on red is now allowed" laws, and the roads have been more dangerous ever since.
Like you said, we can't design systems that rely on people paying perfect attention every time.

@ai6yr @d_rift @AdaraAstin @smellsofbikes @dianea i mean, who among us hasn't accidentally gone over a curb with a rear wheel at least once. But to extrapolate that to "I'll get a jeep so i don't have to change" vs. I'll take turns more carefully... serious car brain.

@stereo a close follow up would be "Don't you want me" by the Human League in November 1981. Both called "synth pop" on wikipedia. Also found something i never heard of, a second british invasion! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_British_Invasion?wprov=sfla1

@stereo oooh that's a great one! That is really early.
I'd feel ok calling Whip It a proto-80s form, it has the synths, it has the drums, but it is still its own unique before thing.

@dalias @futurebird oh, not at all! Ive been to some of the BS ones too.
I'm more talking about people like 3 blue 1 brown who do explainer videos about transformer models, but even less technical. No one would pay you to watch those.

@Aleums was "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These" the first 80s pop song? (1983)
