And we know how he treats the constitution.
Asked if the deal was binding, Mr. Trump said: “I think it’s morally binding.”
Oh, for fuck’s sake.
Replying to @Almacca@aussie.zone
Maybe he said “it’s mmm… Orally binding.” I don’t think he knows what a moral is.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
We’ve also decided to add a “pinky promise” layer to this agreement.
You know what, considering that the world see’s AI on the same level of nukes. Maybe the iran war can be solved this way. Just give Iran a “morally binding” request to not build nukes. Declare that the new victory and end the iran war.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Again…he really doesn’t understand what the Constitution is for.

“Morally binding” AKA Not actionable performative bull shit to appear to take warnings seriously.
Replying to @UsernamesAreForSuckers@lemmy.world
If there’s anything actionable about it, it would be collusion to crack down on any Chinese, local, or other AI implementations outside the crony circlejerk.
Replying to @UsernamesAreForSuckers@lemmy.world
I dont think its that.
I think they’ve all hit a performance wall behind closed doors, because the system behind LLMs is… Not up for the tasks ahead let’s say.
Theyre going to use this to go to investors and say ‘see we can’t make targets, were now hamstrung’
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
One that doesn’t disadvantage them in any way, that can be ignored.
Trump has no idea how AI actually works, and he likely didn’t get anyone else to check it
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
What the fuck do any of these signers know about morals?
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Are we not calling it Super Intelligence Dash S.I. anymore? Really thought that was going to catch on…
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
‘Officially’
That’s not how it works, Donnie, and answer the fucking question.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Morals are only binding if you have them.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Morally binding like a constitution… By men with no morals that use the Constitution as toilet paper
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Any organisation that is permitted to regulate or investigate itself is intrinsically corrupt and unfit for purpose.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
I thought things like that were considered collusion.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Next comes the regulatory capture but don’t worry, it’s for your safety.
the constitution his administration violates as a matter of policy? like that type of constitution.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Did theyjust compare a pinky promise to the Constitution of a country and said that a constitution is only morally binding?
Replying to @DeadDigger@lemmy.zip
And it’s between people who we already know are morally compromised.
Replying to @DeadDigger@lemmy.zip
That’s basically how Trump treats the regular US constitution, so why should this one be any different?
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
So we can wipe our ass with it just like the real US constitution
Replying to @Steve@startrek.website
nah it’s exclusively digital
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Voluntary standards can be a useful starting point, but they need teeth to be more than a press release: public reporting, incident disclosure, third-party audits, and consequences for quietly dropping the commitments. Calling it a constitution raises the bar; constitutions are meaningful because institutions can enforce them.

constitutions are meaningful because institutions can enforce them.
Throughout trumps term… that’s sounding less and less to be the case.
Maybe that’s the idea, they aren’t trying to raise the bar out of what we expect from this pinky swear. Maybe they want us to lower our expectations of a constitution to be “guidelines that we sometimes follow, when they don’t get too much in the way of what we want to do”.

Ding ding ding

Calling it a constitution raises the bar
No. Calling it a constitution low key reinforces this administration’s contempt for the US Constitution. By suggesting it’s just a “moral framework”
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
A constitution for the rich/Epstein class.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Here we go - they’re going to make open models and self hosting illegal and then demand we only get AI from approved American corporations. What a joke.

Meh, it’s not hard for Chinese companies to create a website
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
“And the president said he plans to name an “AI czar” in the next three or four days.”
It’s probably going to be fucking Kid Rock or some other unqualified Trump simping cronie.
Replying to @MIDItheKID@lemmy.world
My money’s on Musk getting the job, because that would be the worst possible choice.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Whenever did any kind of voluntary regulations in industry and commerce actually benefit the people?
Replying to @Treczoks@lemmy.world
Oligarchs are people too!
Replying to @username_1@discuss.tchncs.de
they surely are people-shaped, not much more in common with common people though
Replying to @Treczoks@lemmy.world
ESRB maybe? Yeah that’s about all I’m coming up with.
Replying to @vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works
The European Systematic Risk Board? They are part of the European Central Bank. Not much of self-regulating here.
Replying to @Treczoks@lemmy.world
Entertainment Software Rating Board, basically US Pegi.
Replying to @vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works
Ah, OK. That kind is not much regulating, actually. Or have you heard of them demanding serious penalties from someone?
Replying to @Treczoks@lemmy.world
Nah they basically do their thing and nobody thinks about them anymore. They popped up as an industry reaction to people calling for censorship regulations, I think the last time they had any major problems was around 2013 when GTA V released and dumbasses being stupid about that and trying to push an adult rating.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
AI companies announce they will self-regulate because of their moral obligations
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
A rapist pedophile mass murderer has no morals.
End of fucking story.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
Almost like the Constitution, in that Trump and his cronies will ignore it.
Replying to @return2ozma@lemmy.world
it will be great the CEO’s said “winning” and Trump said they can police each other
