"fuck paypal fuck paypal" until you need someone from across the ocean to pay for a commission
can we all kind of understand that unfortunately leaving paypal behind entirely is not possible because there's no decent alternative that works around the fucking globe
the americans are still stuck in the stone age of banking and are too lazy to modernize it so it could, for example, use a fucking IBAN number to ensure *some* compatibility with other countries
all i'm saying is unless you come up with a better solution and get everyone to adopt it, businesses and individuals alike, please stop making using paypal into a moral judgement of some sort

@ko Crypto is another answer. Monero payments cost ~1/500p.
@DavyJones good luck convincing your client it's not a scam
@mo It does of course depend on your use case, but the trust required in monero is less than a third party capitalist solution like paypall or wise.
@DavyJones lol no. If you got scammed through a regular bank, you have a pretty solid chance to get money back. If you got scammed with crypto — your money are gone forever. If you got scammed with monero — your money are gone forever without any trace
@DavyJones by the way, I'm saying it from a point of regular crypto user. I'm paid with it, not because it's better than the banks, but because it's the only working option
and it's a whole lot of extra stress to deal with.
@mo I think you have too much faith in regular banks. If you receive monero you have it, no one can take it back. I do not see what you would need to convince the receiving party of given they got the transfer.
@DavyJones you can't only receive monero. You _have to_ use it somehow, or you can skip all that bullshit and do work for free without extra steps
and again, good luck convincing sender (client) to buy some suspicious unregulated money and send it to you, taking all the risks
@mo The original OP wanted to send value to someone abroad. I do not see that they need to trust anyone. It is true that the receiver needs some way of getting the value from it, but the same thing applies with something like paypall.
