@seedy60 I've been a beta tester for American software since 2004, so I pronounce Bayta. But I've never known someone pronounced it as Best, I mean, someone with english as mother tongue. For me it would be the most natural way, because in Slavic tradition Greek letters are pronounced like this: betta, thetta, dzetta etc.

I'm pretty sure some people said the same when machines appeared in 19th century. Like "machine-made clothes are not art". Art has its place, and there always will be need in it. But sometimes we just need to eat. Or to buy a 5-euro t-shirt, not a handmade masterpiece. Or a 7-euro mug, or… I might continue. However, when I come to an unknown place, I want local handmade things that would serve me as memory from that place. Different usage, different needs.

Code is often messy and dirty and it's a pain to create and get right but the results reflect the personality of the creator and the pain of the creation. Just like the rest of art. Sometimes you have to look at the source code to see that, but it's there if you look for it, hidden beneath the surface.

It's very sad. And of course it's not about health. Countries with rich #Wine and #Beer cultures are drifting towards stigmatizing #Alcohol as if it was something evil, albeit people were drinking alcohol for thousands and thousands years. Of course it can be damaging, but as I like to say, a kitchen knife can be used for cutting bread, but some people use it for evil things.

@fastfinge Prism is that library for self-voicing, right? To be honest, I find those solutions useful, but extremely niche. If something is on screen, I need it to be accessible. Like, a button is a button, a combo box is a combo box, accessible and operable via keyboard.
