I've heard enough "wisdom of my elders" to come to the conclusion that most of you are genuinely fucking brain dead and the ones who have something worth saying don't use their age as a credential.

When I first stopped being good-faith with people online, the very first thing I realized was that telling old people they are not wise despite being old drives them fucking crazy. All that time on this planet and you've got nothing useful to say to someone younger. Sad!

I think in the back of their minds, boomers know they had it easy and have genuinely no life skills to pass down to younger generations because they were handed everything. That's why all their "advice" sounds the same. Boostraps, hit the bricks, stop eating avocados or whatever. God I fucking hate them.

My 80 yo dad's career advice my entire adult life was been "work for a fortune 500 company for 20 years and get a pension"
He got enormously upset once when I took career advice from a peer (switch jobs every couple of years for pay raises)

Yeah why would I stay at one company, especially if they're not loyal to me? Oh, "welcome to the family" they say - immediate red flag. You want *me* to treat *you* like family so I go the extra mile but in the reciprocate, I'm a cost center or a commodity. Fuck em.
