@martincrownover yup, I'm not out here subcontracting my thoughts & the career I decided to get into.
If it's gonna leave me behind, I wish it'd hurry up with that

@martincrownover I started noticing years ago not only that many people instinctively surrender their agency to automation, but also their intellect. This is why you see people driving around without their lights on at night. They don't even know it; it doesn't even occur to them to think about it. I've met drivers who DON'T KNOW HOW to turn on their own headlights. The magic machine thinks FOR them. Badly, of course. How many people now rely on talk to text? How long till they CAN'T write?

@wesdym @martincrownover @patterfloof one of the headlight issues is LCD/etc dash boards and drls. When I learnt to drive, at night the road was dark and so was the dashboard till you turned the lights on. If you have the headlights off on my Mondeo at night, the dashboard is still lit up and bright, and there's 50watts + lighting up the road ahead. There's no "your lights aren't on" reminder by not being able to see

@chloeraccoon @wesdym @martincrownover and if its physical controls, like a stick on the steering column, you can feel that the switch is set "on". Screen doesn't have that without someone programming an indicator
