It’s become particularly nasty with generative AI, however, because now said CEOs can still see an end result that mimics the thing they don’t understand—and are able to self-delude themselves into thinking it’s replicable at scale, or that it’s even producing the same quality as the product they’ve actually been selling.

I think that’s well said. The shit that comes out of these things is often “good enough” and until there’s real reckonings with that not actually being good enough, it’s gonna keep going.

I’m waiting on (almost hoping for one sooner rather than later) a large systemic failure that nobody can ignore. Like stock market collapse due to AI agent fuckery or a bridge failure because the engineer just asked ChatGPT to hallucinate a bridge and assume it was good enough.

If not, I wonder if we’ll just have a slow degeneration until nothing makes sense and there’s trash piles everywhere.

Go away, 'baitin

Hey, that’s me. But because I don’t want to lose my job when my boss take me along his vibe coding journeys. And in the end I still don’t understand coding.

I guess it kind of works with reading specifications documents but I’d have to babysit the AI or else I just get lost quickly at whatever training it has at sorting the information.

I really want to get out of this job. But mounting living costs that my current salary still able to keep my neck out of the water but quickly losing, my confidence in myself at rock bottom and partly I’m digging a hole for myself, this shit sucks ass and I think my brain is starting to be able to beat the medication I’m on. It feels so hopeless even when I already ignore the shit going on in the world
