The more I think about it, the more strongly I feel that the AT Protocol’s PDS system is the way to go.

It’s really simple: your data and your identity should exist independently of your social instance. Tying everything to instances was an antipattern.

I’d be really interested in seeing whether it makes sense to do something similar for ActivityPub.

@lain Woah, I didn’t know you were working on a new project!

The idea is pretty interesting, kind of makes me think of Secure Scuttlebutt in a way. Using deltachat / encrypted emails feels like a pretty practical approach.

I’m still interested in seeing a Bluesky-style PDS done with ActivityStreams / ActivityPub, but maybe that’s a pipe dream.
