As somebody who doesn’t currently, and has never owned a Prusa printer - this sort of thing is why people pay a premium for Prusa printers.
There are other, less expensive printers that are open source. I have no idea why people pay premiums for Prusa.
Personally, to support a European manufacturer with a massive track record of giving a fuck.
Their history of open source software, technically sound hardware, and excellent support is extremely impressive, even outside the lens of 3d printing these are rare and valuable traits.
