Completely incomparable. Limited in scope to the local area. Easily opted out of. And not constantly being replaced with other phone books with more and more arcane ways of opting out.

I wouldn’t say that’s completely incomparable. We could also call the operator back then. The location was public. Local area is still a lot of people.
