I refused to train the AI that could replace me

Oh, and many people even pay to train the AI by using it daily for their work.
Yeah, I see job like that and say, “Screw that.”

AI is the future, stop being a dinosaur.

The future of what?

Rocks, sand, maybe a few insects and small rodents?
I don’t see anything medium to big survive, like what happened with the dinosaurs he’s talking about…

There’s no such thing as artificial intelligence and large language models are not the future of anything. Pull the boot out of your fucking mouth and try to use that lump of salty fat your skull is keeping the air off of. They aren’t going to favor you for rolling over and giving them your belly.

You’re right, of course

Whose future?

Industrialization was also inevitable. It also create 100+ years of misery, exploitation and protest. People of course will assume the same will go for AI, but even worse and they assume that because that’s exactly what the creators of AI say will happen. Understandably some folks are a bit reluctant.

The scam is killing us. Stop being complicit.

I am in the same boat but I am aware that it will eventually replace me whether I helped or not :(

Train it wrong, on purpose, as a joke. Like Wimp Lo!

If you think AI will replace you, you need train yourself.

I don’t know - in my field there’s a lot of “knowledge work” to be done, and if AI helps get it done faster…
Think of the ditch digging crews with shovels, do you think any of the ex-shovel jockeys feel bad that they’ve been mostly “replaced” with backhoes and tracked excavators?

I just enjoy my time corrupting it as much as I can. It’s like a new hobby.

In my generation it was the nuclear industry (immediately post TMI & Chernobyl) which was giving away the huge incentive bonuses and premium salaries. I never filled out the Navy application - though I hear they paid the best overall. I did interview twice (nothing better to do at the time), got two offers, declined both, ultimately took lower paying jobs that I didn’t mind the idea of going to work at.

Interesting.
Was it bombs or energy? Or they didn’t separate the two?
One facility publicly stated they’re making “submarine fuel” - but that’s pretty thin… same facility can easily make all kinds of fissile material as well.

I just had an opportunity for a job at a company that does autonomous weapons systems. That was a tough one to turn down.

I did “recon drones” back in 2010… of course they lept at the opportunity to demonstrate kamakazi delivery of explosives with the platform to the Army too…
