@eigenform is using a classic reform but not sure to what extent.

@lislegaard @liaizon @andypiper @artfwo I have both classic and pocket Reform, but barely use them for music outside of occasional experiments. The plugins in my live setup require a lot more CPU power than Reform provides even with RK3588, so my main machine for music is still Framework (which I have now upgraded to Framework Pro).

@eigenform is it mainly the raw CPU power that's holding that back? Is the Quasar looking like a potential or that's still not enough of a boost?

@liaizon I haven't tried Quasar yet, it might be an interesting potential system for the job indeed.
Apart from performance, RK3588 has loud noticeable high pitched noise from passive components when the system is under load (e.g. watching youtube), I recall I had reported that ages ago through the support system.
I had issues with realtime audio i/o on several different USB audio interfaces with RK3588 and prior SOMs.
Unfortunately, some rare proprietary plugins don't provide arm64 builds.
