If you’ve ever had someone close to you develop alzheimers, especially family where it was then more likely that you would develop it, you would have no problem paying for drugs to prevent it for life. It’s probably the cruelest thing that can happen to a person in life.

Because natural selection does in fact include external pressures like predators, disease, and accidents, along with genetics. Genetics can absolutely make a difference in making it to reproduction, but environmental factors are just as big of a factor, if not bigger, in making it that long.
