IMO, one of the feature linux distros really should borrow from windows — included scripts for troubleshooting
just run it from settings, and it will automatically check most common problems, and fix them, or at least give explanation what is wrong

"It's a Unix system, it tells you everything" - sure! But it doesn't tell you where to look, assuming it's a common knowledge.
