I do recall my best friend's mom being quite surprised when she said something about showering after gym and we looked at her like she had 3 heads and told her nobody does that.

I'm old enough to have an almost completely grey beard, and by the time I hit middle school, absolutely nobody showered before or after gym class under any circumstances. nudity in public school was completely and totally dead outside of kids in actual sports (as opposed to just genpop plebs in PE)

@gorka I've seen a couple headlines scroll past but that's all, I've been having a rough year so I'm way behind on my plans to start looking into these types of workflows/tools.

@replytomaikel but, I seem to tolerate cooler humidity a lot better than warm humidity... and also I think the fact that most indoor heat in North America is forced air probably also helps. and people here typically do have a dehumidifier in the basement if they have a basement which they run during the winter, because if you don't, you WILL get mold. but that of course means the living areas also stay drier than they would otherwise during the rainy season.

@replytomaikel hrm, okay that's good to know. the main reason I was interested in Galicia is that supposedly it's one of the few areas in the world with a climate similar to the Pacific Northwest in North America: a temperate rainforest during autumn winter and spring, but with dry summers. sounds like maybe it's a bit more variable there, here we have maybe a week or two of humid heat each year but I think it's mostly the summer sun cooking off the last of the spring damp, then it's gone.

@replytomaikel humid heat is so awful. I'm barely able to tolerate it at baseline, and I'm on 2 meds which reduce my ability to tolerate any heat even further (one by increasing sweating and one by increasing peeing). it's one of the reasons why I live where I do, and why I was looking at Galicia if I ever moved to Spain (am I right about that, btw?) anyway I hope you can get it pretty much solved soon.

@mos_8502 the vast majority of people aren't having these conversations as a dialog, they are looking to broadcast their talking points, often at an inferred wider audience and not even the person they're supposedly responding to.

in short, I have an uncomfortable feeling that some of this work, if implemented, is going to have a rather unsurprising emergent property of reinforcing in-groups composed of people very much like themselves.

now my concern could absolutely be unfounded, and I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I'll just again point out that the supposed founder of IFTAS is somebody whose bio link on that site points to LinkedIn instead of anywhere running ActivityPub, and that people broadly similar to him are increasingly taking it upon themselves to define how this place operates.

the more I see these well-scrubbed comfortable people with little to no precarity in their lives excitedly collaborating on ActivityPub development, the more I become concerned for the future of the network (and more importantly me and my friends' ability to use it in peace).

I'm running a single-user Akkoma instance right now but considering whether to use it or Pleroma for a "close friends only" one. which is why I asked about Mitra moderation features like a year ago lol (I ran into many tribulations between then & now)

@silverpill @jody_racer @mkljczk anything I should know about the state of Akkoma and/or Pleroma development? I'm still waffling over what softwares to use for various projects.
